Prof. KATO Naoya
Welcome to our website of the Department of Gastroenterology of Chiba University Hospital. We handle diseases of liver, bile duct, pancreas, and digestive system in daily clinical practice. We have many gastroenterological specialists working in this department, including hepatologists, gastrointestinal endoscopists, and oncologists. We set up out-patient clinics every workday, and at the in-patient clinic more than 40 gastroenterologists work enthusiastically to provide treatments to the patients. We cooperate with surgeons, oncologists, radiologists to take better care of the patients.
Diseases We Treat and Specialize in
Liver diseases:
acute hepatitis, acute liver failure, chronic hepatitis C, chronic hepatitis B, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), cirrhosis of the liver, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), primary biliary cholangitis/cirrhosis (PBC), idiopathic portal hypertension (IPH), Budd-Chiari syndrome, hemochromatosis, Wilson's disease
Biliary diseases:
common bile duct stones, biliary cancer, gall bladder cancer, primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC)
Pancreatic diseases:
pancreatic cancer, intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN), chronic pancreatitis, autoimmune pancreatitis, endocrine tumors
Gastrointestinal diseases:
gastroesophageal varices, esophagitis, eosinophilic gastritis, gastric cancer, gastric ulcers, duodenal cancer, colon cancer, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, Behçet's disease
