In the Department of Respiratory Medicine, we are conducting medical services, medical research and educational activities for medical students and doctors, learning towards respiratory diseases in regards to respiratory structure and functions, pulmonary pathophysiology, pathobiology and molecular biology. Respiratory diseases include pneumonia, which has recently been increasing in prevalence, allergic diseases such as bronchial asthma, chronic respiratory failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, interstitial pneumonia including pulmonary fibrosis and hypersensitivity pnuemonitis, and diseases leading to pulmonary circulatory disorder including pulmonary hypertension, sleep apnea syndrome and lung cancer.
Respiratory diseases including respiratory infections (such as viral and bacterial pneumonia, non-tuberculous mycobacterial infection, fungal diseases, et al), pulmonary allergic diseases (such as bronchial asthma, allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis), COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), respiratory failure due to various respiratory diseases, interstitial lung diseases (such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, hypersensitive pneumonitis, drug-induced interstitial pneumonia), pulmonary hypertension (such as pulmonary arterial hypertension, chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension), pulmonary vascular diseases (such as AVM, pulmonary vascular abnormalities), sleep apnea syndrome, malignant respiratory diseases (such as lung cancer, methothelioma, and mediastinal tumors).
